Bruce Laingen, Sweden, 1947, was interviewed for the Minneapolis StarTribune on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the takeover of the U.S. embassy in Iran by radical students. Bruce was the top U.S. diplomat during that 444 day ordeal. The link to the complete article is here.

Tim O'Brien, Czechoslovakia, 1967, has an article in the November issue of Smithsonian magazine on returning to his hometown, Worthington, Minn. Tim is an award-winning novelist whose books include The Things They Carried and Going After Cacciato. 

Shelton Gunaratne, advisor to the 1973 SPAN group to Ceylon(now Sri Lanka), has published his memoirs in the Sri Lankan Guardian including his experiences with SPAN. He is currently a professor of mass communication emeritus at Minnesota State University Moorhead. Read the complete article here.
