We need a scanner! We are working to preserve more than 60 years of SPAN memories. If you are willing to donate a scanner, or if you are looking for other ways to contribute, please contact Katherine at span@umn.edu .

Volunteer

Are you looking for a quality volunteer experience? Volunteering with SPAN can reacquaint you with the program, introduce you to the new students, and add valuable experience to your resume. SPAN volunteers meet with the program coordinator to discuss placement. Depending on the project, volunteers can work from home or in the office.

If you would like to receive email updates whenever a new volunteer position is posted email Jessica at span@umn.edu

There are two types of projects: ongoing or one-time.  Check back often to see current projects.

Current Initiatives:

Alumni:

Help us find lost alumni. Currently, one-third of the alumni listed in our database are lost. With no means to communicate we have no way to obtain updated information from them, assist them with reunion planning, or have current students access their knowledge or experience.

Are you interested in socializing with other SPAN alumni? Would you be interested in attending SPAN-sponsored lectures? Would you like to add to the rich social and professional SPAN alumni network? SPAN is currently devising programming for SPAN alumni. Please help us by attending brainstorming sessions and tracking down other local alumni. We would love to hear your ideas about how you'd like to interact with alumni as well as current students.

Program:

Are you interested in having a one-on-one relationship with a SPANner? Share your experience, talk about differences in the destination and enjoy having international conversations with enthusiastic students.  Contact the office saying that you would like to become a mentor.  Alumni and current students are matched based on destination and research interests (when available). Contact Jessica at the office for more information about what a mentor/mentee relationship looks like and how you can apply. program@spanalumni.org

Publicity

Our students are eager to share their research and experiences.  If you are a member of an organization that would like to host a SPAN speaker, please contact the office.
